Oaklands Infants School – Cheque presentation.

The staff, parents and children of Oaklands Infant School presented a cheque for £1,108-94 to Perthes Association on 6th January 2012. The money was raised during a school year after the school adopted Perthes Association as their chosen charity after a little boy at the school was diagnosed.

HOW TO MAKE A WHEAT BAG

Ok, “what is a wheat bag” I hear you ask - a wheat bag is a bag filled with - wheat. You can put it in the microwave to heat up with a glass of water, and it stays warms for ages! Its more comfy than a hot water bottle and you can make them all kinds of shapes.

Life One Big Adventure for Ben!

Ben Hart aged 16 was presented with the Medal for Meritorious Conduct a top Scouting Award by the County Commissioner. He also received a certificate and a personal letter from Bear Grylls the Chief Scout. The award was "in recognition of his strength and determination for Scouting despite suffering from a debilitating health condition, his enthusiasm is a true inspiration to others"

Simon says “It’s not all doom and gloom”.

My name is Simon Scarborough and I am 36 years old and was diagnosed with Perthes at the age of 7 and got signed off from the Leicester Royal Infirmary at the age of 15 The pictures on your website remind me of the same treatment I went through, with the broom across both plastered legs & a special wheel chair, I remember the plaster being on for a long time. After a few years of being self conscious when I was growing up wondering what I could do or couldn't do, I am now trying to be as active as possible, although you need to ensure the doctors clarify whether they believe the child will have any limitations playing football, cricket etc.,
