Good News ! A Summer Get Together and Party has been arranged for all the families with children who have Perthes disease, The party is for the whole family and designed to be totally inclusive, so no worries that your child won't be able to join in.

The staff, parents and children of Oaklands Infant School presented a cheque for £1,108-94 to Perthes Association on 6th January 2012. The money was raised during a school year after the school adopted Perthes Association as their chosen charity after a little boy at the school was diagnosed.

We are immensely grateful for the support of our members, without whom we could not help the thousands of families who seek our support, this month we are featuring a grandmother who organised a group of friends to run the Cardiff Half Marathon with her, to raise funds for Perthes Association.

Ben Hart aged 16 was presented with the Medal for Meritorious Conduct a top Scouting Award by the County Commissioner. He also received a certificate and a personal letter from Bear Grylls the Chief Scout. The award was "in recognition of his strength and determination for Scouting despite suffering from a debilitating health condition, his enthusiasm is a true inspiration to others"

My name is Simon Scarborough and I am 36 years old and was diagnosed with Perthes at the age of 7 and got signed off from the Leicester Royal Infirmary at the age of 15 The pictures on your website remind me of the same treatment I went through, with the broom across both plastered legs & a special wheel chair, I remember the plaster being on for a long time. After a few years of being self conscious when I was growing up wondering what I could do or couldn't do, I am now trying to be as active as possible, although you need to ensure the doctors clarify whether they believe the child will have any limitations playing football, cricket etc.,
